Veronica VICKERY

1963—

Veronica moved to West Cornwall in 2001, relocating from Somerset with her four children. She originally trained as a teacher. She gained an MA with Distinction in Fine Art (Contemporary Practice) from University College Falmouth in 2010 and won the Sandra Blow Award.

She has established herself over recent years as an artist making work directly in response to living, working and raising a family near St Just. Her work is project-based with a strong socio-political undercurrent. The final form spans a variety of media from sculptural and performative interventions in the landscape, to large-scale paintings.

Her most recent body of work is a series of paintings developed in response to the derelict Springs Farm near Pendeen. Currently she teaches Performance at University College Falmouth. in 2008 she set up the arts organisation BOSarts in partnership with the National Trust in Cornwall, undertaking and commissioning artist projects in remote sites.
