Wilfred TONKIN

Wilfred TONKIN

c1982

He became an apprentice copper worker in Newlyn, 1912 at the age of 12, recalling that by then he was the only pupil. Born in Newlyn, he was probably the last surviving member of the Industrial Class. His elder brother was also in the class for a time.

A correspondent has written to confirm Tonkin's death in either 1982 or '83, at his home in Church Street, Newlyn.
