Ernest Wyman SAVORY

Ernest Wyman SAVORY
1861
1937

Savory was born in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and like his father before him was a bookseller.  His father had been a printer, and young Ernest became both a printer and then later a painter and craftsman. He married Frances Mary Young with whom he had six children. Through his businesses located first in Cirencester and later in Bristol he worked as a carver and gilder, picture framer and manufacturer of mirrors/looking glasses.

Artist Biographies researcher Geoff Hassell (http://www.artbiogs.co.uk) has details of Savory's works, and his involvement with the Bristol and Clifton Arts and Crafts Society.  The painting 'Porthmeor Beach, St Ives' is in the permanent collection of the Royal West of England Academy, and is featured on the website of BBC Paintings.

He is known to have painted in St Ives for a period, though dates are as yet unknown. He died on October 28, 1937 in Bristol, Somerset.
