Maud Perrycoste (nee Hastings) was the wife of Frank Perrycoste, known as the 'Polperro Fingerprint Man' on account of his studies into eugenics and heredity. Information about this painter is scant. Her husband was born in Tottenham and they were married in 1898. They decided to make their home in the fishing village of Polperro, whose quaint and picturesque streets offered inspiration to the aspiring artist. Maud was known to be active there in 1901, when she used her Polperro address for sending-in to exhibitions.
