Mike WATERS
Mike was born in Penzance and educated at the Humphry Davy Grammar school in the town. He joined the RAF in 1974 and left the Services in 1988.
Now he lives and works in St Hilary where his studio is open to the public by arrangement and on an ad-hoc basis. The artist has a bold and expressive style of painting which focuses on the female form, stripping away the traditional pastoral or boudoir settings to show women who have a strong, powerful presence. The resultant imagery is striking and attractive rather than shocking or erotic, as he aims to make high-quality art to be widely appreciated and understood.
His artistic interests are broad and he not only paints but also sculpts in clay and plaster, and experiments and creates works in mixed media 'as the spirit takes him.'
